Declan's Time Flies Vintage Airplane 1st Birthday Party

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Well, we finally had Declan's First Birthday Party this past weekend.  February is a pretty busy month between holiday weekends and State Cup, so we had push back our party weekend, ummmm, 3 weeks!

When Declan was about 1 month old I new what I wanted the theme for his 1st Birthday to be.  Actually, once I saw his newborn photos, I knew.  Drew had a vision for his newborn photos that included maps and airplanes.  I loved the way the photos came out, and I knew right away that it would make a cute 1st Birthday theme.  And since that is the theme of the big boy's room (that is still not finished yet), I had a lot of things that I could use for it.  Who knew that boy themes could be so fun.

The dessert table

I made the cake.  I made homemade buttercream frosting.  YUM!

Easy Peezy Rice Krispie Treats on a stick!  Just buy the individually wrapped Rice Krispie Treats, unwrap them and stick a popsicle stick in them.  The kids loved them!
All paper goods were designed and printed by yours truly.
Remember I work in the printing industry.  :)

This airplane came from the boys' room.
I got it awhile back from Homegoods.
The map backdrop came from the same backdrop we used for Declan's newborn and first year photos.
Just a bunch of 8.5 x 11 maps printed on copy paper and pieced together.

This highchair!  I love this highchair!
I bought it from an antique store, and painted it, back when Liam turned one.

Drew saw this idea on Pinterest and sent me a photo.
Saying, "You should do this for Decs' Birthday."
Besties are the best!  How could I not!  How cute is this!

It doesn't alway work with the theme, but I love serving food as if you were in the theme itself.
I did this for Aiden's 5th Birthday and it was a hit!

I had to use his cute newborn re-creation photo!  So I incorporated them into the centerpieces.
Along with some airplane gliders for the kids to play with.

I don't always do favors since the kids usually leave all sugared up.
But they couldn't leave the airport without picking up their bags.

A little Balloon twisting fun...

A Birthday Crown for the Birthday Boy!

Time for cake!

This went better than Liam's Cash Smash.

Happy Birthday my little man.  Hope you had a great day, I'm so excited to celebrate many more firsts this next year, and many more birthdays to come!  Just don't let the birthdays be too close to each other will ya?!?  xoxo.

I have a few more photos to post, but this post is getting a little long, so I'll add more in a few days.
